In Mammoth
I moved to Mammoth Lakes on July 4, 2000. In 2006, I became involved in efforts on behalf of backcountry skiers and snowboarders to secure a legal egress route from the Sherwins back to Town. This led to a community-based consensus to establish a nonprofit organization to be focused on a Mammoth Lakes Trail System and the need to update the Town’s Trail System Master Plan.
In 2006, with help from members of Town Council, a variety of regional stakeholders, and a founding Board of Directors, the Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access Foundation (MLTPA) was incorporated. I have served as MLTPA’s Chief Executive Officer and Board President since the Foundation's inception, celebrating our 15th anniversary in 2021.
Since 2014, when I began my service as a Town Council Member, I have served MLTPA as a volunteer, receiving no compensation of any kind from MLTPA from any financial resource for my services.
MLTPA now provides contractual services in support of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System and the Town's Trails Manager, Joel Rathje, and its Office of Outdoor Recreation. For more information, please visit Mammoth Lakes Recreation, which serves as the home for administration and oversight of the Mammoth Lakes Trail System.
