Town Council Election 2026

A Municipal Election will be held in the Town of Mammoth Lakes on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to elect three members to the Town Council. My name is John Wentworth, and I currently hold one of those seats.

After three busy terms over 12 years, I will not be seeking re-election.

I’m sharing this decision with a month to go before candidates must file their nomination papers. For those considering a run, know that at least one incumbent will not be in the race. To my mind, there is no more compelling way to enhance our shared civic life than as an elected official in local government. Democracy with a capital “D.” I’m willing to elaborate, please reach out to john@wentworth4council.com if interested.

We all serve and contribute to better our communities. I intend to continue working with the great team at MLTPA, both board and staff, to benefit our town and communities throughout the region. We will have news to share about future projects, exciting ones, in the coming months.

To my fellow council members with whom I’ve had the pleasure of working over the years; the Town Managers and staff of the Town of Mammoth Lakes; the staffs and Boards of the Mono County Local Transportation Commission (LTC), Mono County Collaborative Planning Team (CPT), Eastern Sierra Community Housing (ESCH), Eastern Sierra Council of Governments (ESCOG), Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District (GBUAPCD), and Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT); and, most importantly, the proud voters of Mammoth Lakes – a heartfelt Thank You.

It has been an honor to serve, with never a dull moment.
